Soft shapes in Martti Rytkönen’s Armadillo are combined with cocky rock-inspired contours in Lena Bergström’s Carat and her new bar series Carat Bar. The decadent City Stoppers are a brand-new series of products made of glittering crystal.
The hand-made drinkware series Divine by Erika Lagerbielke with its clean lines celebrates Swedish craftsmanship in glass-making and classic elegance. Ingegerd Råman’s Crystal Eye Grandma gives us a fabulous retro feel for cut glass with its distinctive glittering quality in classic clear glass or sober black.
ANNUAL ORNAMENT – CHRISTMAS DECORATION
Design: Erika Lagerbielke
Orrefors has a long successful tradition of annual Christmas decorations. This year’s piece is a guardian angel. The Christmas angel is just as ideal as a window decoration as in a traditional Christmas tree.
ARMADILLO – VASE, BOWLS
Design: Martti Rytkönen
In his crystal series called Armadillo, designer Martti Rytkönen has flirted with the visual vocabulary of the 1950s, but in way that suits homes of our decade. As the name suggests, Martti gained inspiration for the oval shape from a somewhat unusual source: the shell of an armadillo, which is highlighted perfectly in the clear crystal.
CARAT – VOTIVES
Design: Lena Bergström
In recent years, Lena Bergström has been inspired by jewels and precious stones in her designs. In her art glass you can see her knowledge of and fascination for cut glass, and in the Carat candlestick she has created a unique expression using new design and classic technique, in the well-known Orrefors style. This sparkling votive, available in two sizes, is new this year.
CARAT – BAR
Design: Lena Bergström
Lena Bergström has created a new, modern bar range in her Carat series. The glasses are stable on their heavy facet-cut bases that feature an olive-shaped pattern, and the bowl of the glasses provides a feminine and elegant touch. The glasses create a luxurious and exclusive feeling – perfect for modern homes. The cut and various fascinating techniques used are the distinctive features of the series, and the glasses are also modern, youthful and cheeky.
CARAT – CITY STOPPERS
This is the first Orrefors series of stoppers for wine and bar bottles. True to the Orrefors style, they are hand-cut in three luxurious shapes; they are architectonical and have been specially designed to highlight all the positive characteristics of the glass. Inspiration for the stoppers came from the world metropolises of New York, Tokyo and Stockholm, and they constitute a fine complement to the Carat bar series. City Stoppers fit all types of bottles. A perfect gift for a friend interested in design.
CRYSTAL EYE GRANDMA – VASE, BOWL
Design: Ingegerd Råman
In two new variations on the modern Crystal Eye classic, Ingegerd Råman has again seduced us with new fantastic cut patterns. The crystal in the black and clear vases and bowls sparkles and refracts the light in an optimal way. The millimetre-thin black surface on the thick clear glass and the cut patterns in the elegant ‘GrandMa’ series are reminiscent of classic patterns from the past.
DIVINE – WINE, CHAMPAGNE, WATER, CARAFE
Design: Erika Lagerbielke
Divine is the Orrefors tribute to the Royal Wedding in 2010; Erika Lagerbielke also designed the gift that the Swedish Parliament and Government gave to the Crown Princess Couple. A sparkling set of glasses for those wonderful moments that we remember for a long time. Just as pleasing to hold as to look at, the glasses are designed to enhance your enjoyment of the aroma and taste of your drink. Innovative elegant design and skilled craftsmanship.
EDGY – VOTIVES
Design: Martti Rytkönen
Edgy is a group of four austere, modern votives that may seem static at first glance. But turn one of them around and you give the entire group a new look, a new content. They are tempting to play with – what does your favourite grouping look like? From pyramid to gnome parade, you can arrange them in various ways. The colour of the tray that contains the votives is reflected beautifully in the different angles of the glass.
HOUSTON – CANDLESTICK
Design: Ingegerd Råman
A candlestick in a simple, classic shape, made of clear solid glass. The weight and transparency of the material play a major part in the appearance of the candlestick. Houston also features a floating candleholder, which accentuates the softly curved shape of the candlestick.
MITT & DITT – VOTIVES
Design: Erika Lagerbielke
Erika Lagerbielke has designed three versions of this lantern, which embellishes a set table both indoors and outdoors with its characteristic shape. The glass is hand-painted with gold, platinum or crystal, which creates a sparkling shine.
NOBEL – SNAPS GLASS
Design: Gunnar Cyrén
This glass, depicting a devil, is a popular collector’s item in the classic Nobel series. This year’s glass is hand-painted with orange details.
POND – BOWLS
Design: Ingegerd Råman
Pond has become a classic that combines function and beauty in attractive harmony, and the series is many people’s clear favourite. All pieces are decorated with individual sand-engraved patterns of lines. A lower bowl available in clear glass and black versions is a new addition to the range this autumn.
ZVIZZ – VASES
Design: Ingegerd Råman
Ingegerd Råman’s hand-painted Zvizz bowls and vases have become a popular series. The vases have been lauded for their beautiful shape and well-designed functionality. A tall, narrow vase available in black or white is new this autumn.
LIMITED EDITION
SEE ME – SCULPTURES
Design: Martti Rytkönen
Edition: 30
Elegance and minimalistic design with a twinkle in its eye. Part of the face looks back at you and lets you discover it. If you look at the object from the side, the play of colours changes to form two disappearing lines … that’s the magic of glass – See Me.
